Metal & Wire Jewelry With Connie Fox
A note to our old (or, should I say
esteemed) friends: It's time for
a change. As you may have noticed, our website has a new look.
Not only is there a new look, but there will be a few changes
along the way. My plan for 2010-2015 is to further develop online
educational material related to making metal jewelry. Many people I come in contact with online live far from
accessible classes. For others, the budget does not allow
for financing them. There will be a mixture of written instructions
(with lots of pictures) and some videos. So for you, and anyone
who wants to learn, my efforts will be dedicated to you.
You see will a change in our online store.
Beads will be phased out and all our products will be about
metal. Cold connections, sheet metal shapes, and tools and supplies for making
metal jewelry will be available for purchase. Beads will be on sale over the next several months at 25% off. If you would
like to be notified of sales, please email
Christine. Other sections of the website have been updated,
such as Education, Links, and Biography. More jewelry has
been added to the Gallery and you will see more of it in the
future. Yes!
If you have any recommendations, complaints , or just plain feedback about the site and our efforts, please email me at cfox@san.rr.com.
A note to our new friends: Do you love making jewelry? Are you endlessly
fascinated by learning new skills and talking with friends about
jewelry? Count me in on both counts! Or, perhaps you are new
to jewelry making and would love to develop your skills. For all
of you lovers of metal jewelry, Jatayu offers you:
- Galleries: You
will see both my jewelry, and jewelry made by some of my students.
- Education: You
can take classes with me primarily in the San Diego area. Additionally,
written step-by-step instructions and videos on how to make jewelry
are online - some are free and some have a fee. You will also
find instruction on how to use jewelry making tools and supplies.
- Jewelry Making Tools and Supplies: You will find a good selection of materials and
tools for sale online to help you make great jewelry. The tools we offer
for sale are ones I have tested and used.
My name is Connie Fox
and I am the instigator of this adventurous website. I have been
making jewelry since 1996 and started teaching in 2001. Wire
jewelry is where I started, and while I still make some wire
jewelry, I spend more time fabricating jewelry from sheet metal.
A question I am frequently asked is "What
does Jatayu mean?" First of all, it is pronounced Juh-tie-you.
I know it is difficult to pronounce and almost impossible to
spell. Every marketing book I have read suggests choosing a short easy to pronounce name for your business. Going against this well advised current
was not easy, but inspiration won out. Jatayu is the name of
an eagle in the revered East Indian spiritual text, the Ramayana.
What was compelling to me about this great bird was his total
devotion to what and whom he loved in life. It is this flight
pattern I choose to fly.
