I had been admiring Connie's work for some time, and was ready to move away from "just stringing beads", and thought maybe I wanted to work with wire. I purchased supplies from Connie, and had a good collection of beads, but didn't know where to begin. Then, my Winter of 2007 copy of Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazine arrived, and when I saw the Vere Donne bracelet on the cover I knew it was what I wanted to try. Connie's instructions, combined with a wonderful art instructor named Kate Johnston at the South Bend Regional Museum of Art, helped me create my version. Recently, I was fortunate enough to take a class from Connie in person at the Philadelphia Bead Fest. Working with Connie was fantastic and I can't wait to take another class. Thanks Connie!! I've taken several classes with Connie and I think the Bewitching Bracelet class has been my favorite so far. I really love working with the silver pieces and adding texture with the torch. Even though riveting wasn't a part of this class, Connie was kind enough to show a couple of us who were interested how to do it. I love riveting! I think it adds a lot of interest to a piece. The beads in this bracelet were made by me. I love being able to incorporate my lampwork beads into unusual, one-of-a-kind jewelry by using silver metal pieces and silver wire. I'm really looking forward to the Cold Connections for Hot Mamas class in December!

I recently took Connie's Homage Bracelet class and learned about coloring anodized aluminum and riveting larger pieces together. This bracelet is made with silver sheet that I hammered to achieve a soft background and copper pieces that I etched myself. I liked the challenge of getting all the pieces to fit together, not only the riveting of metal on top of metal, but also using jump rings to link the pieces together. Thanks so much Connie for another great class!

Lynde VonHatten

This mixed metal bracelet in sterling silver and copper features beads by lampwork artists Annie Divelbiss (in lavender) and Charlotte Hayes (in mustard and earth tones), as well as a gray gold foil lined Venetian glass bead, and one tiny honey-colored Czech glass bead. The techniques used here were all learned from Connie Fox's tutorials. Email Lynde.
