My piece is a necklace with a large focal
piece that has a kuchi bead in the center. I have used a lot
of different metals including Sterling Silver wire, copper and
brass. I have used beads from India made from bone. All the components
of the necklace were shaped by me except for the beads and charms.

My husband and I were walking along the beach
in Tel Aviv, Israel when he found this unusual piece of sea glass.
I wanted to keep the design simple, so as
to enhance, rather than take away from, the pattern in the sea
glass.
I decided to make an open weave bezel, so
as not to conceal any of the beautiful, but subtle, embossing
on the glass. I love mixing sterling with other metals, and I
chose copper for this piece to play off the color of the glass.
The Czech glass beads replicate the colors as we looked out onto
the Mediterranean Sea, and the spirals represent the waves rolling
toward the shore.
The beads are the only items that I didnt
make for this lovely pendant.

It is a freeform wire necklace that is 24"
in length and is composed of sterling silver with jasper stones
freewrapped, lampworked beads, tigers eye, leopardskin jasper,
andmtallic finished glass beads. I was looking at a barbed wire
fence with things caught in it after a storm and the result of
that moment was this necklace. I wanted the piece to just 'happen'
as the wind had done with the items in the fence.
I did each of the sections by bending the
18 gauge wire, hammering it,shaping, and then wrapping with 28ga
wire. The stones stations are wrapped with 22 gauge wire. The
clasp is done with 18 ga wire and the sterling leaf is a 'trademark'
I put on my pieces.

I used 16 gauge sterling silver wire and 16
gauge copper wire to create the "four-leaf clover"
components in the body of the necklace. These are connected with
double jump rings of 18 gauge copper wire and 16 gauge sterling
silver wire. The body of the necklace was then tumbled using
a polishing solution that had been used before on a different
piece that had been minimally patinaed with liver of sulfur.
By reusing the polishing liquid I was able to bring up a slight
golden tone to the body of the necklace which compliments the
caramel and beige colors of the bead in the focal component.
To create the "Sinbad's blade" portion of the focal
piece, I used 22 gauge copper sheet metal. The blade was then
textured using two different hammers, heat patinaed to a dull
black, and brought back to life by hand polishing. The only portion
of this necklace that I did not make is the focal bead.
